Read Aloud #1

Hi First Graders! I miss you all very much and hope that things are going well at home! I am going to try and do a read aloud each day. This is my first try. I'll get better as we go, but I hope you enjoy!

Something to brighten day!

Before the world got a little crazy we kicked off our Mexico unit with some beautiful art!

Some people watch for birds, others notice grass peeking out, but in my case I watch for how fast first graders can take off their coats during an extra recess time!

Partnerships During Writing

Today we began to have a peer help us edit our work during writing time. Students helped each other to make sure that all ‘red’ words (sight words) were spelled correctly. It was so nice to see such great collaboration between first graders!

We Are Lucky

Today students reflected on what makes them lucky! We turned our thoughts into something bright and beautiful for our classroom.

‘Friendly’ Facts

In first grade we have been hard at work learning our addition and subtraction facts. We are trying to use the doubles facts we know to help us solve ‘near doubles’ (i.e. 5+5=10 so 5+6=11).
