First Graders on Seesaw!

Seesaw is an amazing site/app for young students to use to showcase what they are learning and accomplishing at school. On Friday the kids in room 6 had their first opportunity to login. It was quite successful!

Artists!

We can’t wait to show you some art we’ve been working on for the hallway during Open House in October.

Reading in First Grade

We may only be 19 days in to first grade, but routines are established and amazing things are happening! We love reading in comfy spots, using cool reading ‘tools’, and working with friends.

Mount Philo!

What a great day! I was so impressed by the perseverance of our kids. The weather held off, kids sang, found caterpillars, and ‘saw the ocean’ (Lake Champlain). We are so lucky to live here!

Practice, Practice, Practice

There are lots of big changes in first grade. Having only one snack instead of two can feel really hard. We want to make sure that students use their lunch time well so we have practiced a lot! Usually as the days and weeks go by students adjust to the new schedule and waiting for lunch/snack isn’t quite as hard.

Monday Happenings

Today was a great day in room 6! We got so much done and our routines are feeling more and more consistent. Speaking of routines...this morning we wrote in our Monday journals for the first time. Please check your child’s green folder to see it.

In the afternoon Mr. Antonicci came in to talk about being kind and that we do not allow bullying at our school.

Day #5 - BANG!

Today started with quite a thunderstorm! We took out flashlights and turned off the lights to turn something scary into something fun! Then we were off and running!

We learned how to play ‘Penny Dice’ today.

Students began their first day of handwriting practice.

We rode the bus for a few minutes to practice bus safety.
