Penguin Art

As a part of our nonfiction studies this week we learned about penguins. Students had a great time getting a little creative and showing what they think penguins look like. 





Fun Friday Calendar

We have started to do an online calendar as part of our Fun Friday celebrations! The meteorologist for the week gets to lead us!



Stuffed Animal Day

Have you ever wondered what it looks like when a room full of stuffed animals says the pledge?! Well, here you go!



Lots of Fun with Mirrors!








This week science has focused on how light travels and on reflections. Students enjoyed lots of challenges about getting light to ‘bounce’ in different directions!

Chinese New Year and a Parade

We did a very short celebration of the Chinese New Year with friends from Mrs. Bassett’s class. We played a game called Rock, Paper, Scissors, Dragon and the winner got to lead the dragon parade through both classrooms.

Fun Friday

Today began with a school-wise meeting and we performed! Check your emails to see a great video! The day just kept rolling from there with other fun activities.

Try-a-Tiles have been a big hit at math!


Math Bingo is another class favorite game. This week with base-10 practice.





Today I introduced Kodable for the first time! You should find information about this fun coding app in your child’s green folder.

So Much Sound

In first grade we have been learning about what makes sound, how to change the volume of sound, and most recently we explored pitch. Students have been loving our activities and getting the chance to make some noise!





Learning to Blend

Today I introduced ‘l’ blend words (i.e. flap, glob, slip) to the class. To make it memorable we all wore chef hats to blend those sounds together.
