Vowel Bat

In connection with our class discussion about vowels and letters today we watched this video.  Most kids wanted to be able to watch it again...enjoy!

Letters Everywhere!

We have been talking a lot about letters and words this week! Today, we focused on vowels in our morning message (every word has to have a vowel) and began to discuss handwriting. Our lesson today?! 'Quality work takes time!'

Visits from familiar friends!

Today we were all very happy to see a few familiar faces! Mrs. McCleary came in to remind us about guidance and what she does here at UMS. Mrs. Flanagan had stopped by before school as a surprise and I asked her to join us for morning meeting. What a great way to start our day!

Introducing Room 6!!!

At the end of day one it was hard to get a photo where everyone was looking, but we still tried!! As soon as I have all blog consent forms I will post pictures without the smiley faces!

First Day Fun!

I cannot express how thrilled I am about how our first day went! Alł 22 students had a fantastic day! They seemed excited to be back, eager to help, and simply 'ready'. If you notice that your child's face is covered that is only because I haven't received your blog consent form yet. Here's looking to a great year!

2 Weeks and Counting!!!

Image result for first day of school

Oh my gosh! Can you believe it?! Two weeks from tonight we will all be getting ready for our first day of school.  I have started writing your names on folders, journals, and name tags.  I'm starting to think about what activities to do first and what songs to sing, but most of all I am thinking of all 22 new first graders who will be in my class this year!  I can't wait to see you and start getting to know you.  I really hope that the sun comes out and we all get a few more days to play outside.  Enjoy the rest of summer.  See you soon!!!
