A Photo Essay of the 100th Day

The biggest hit of the day seemed to be traveling to all of the first grade classrooms to do different 100 day activities.  Mrs. Sorenson helped students make crowns with 10 groups of 10.  Ms. Barnett let the boys and girls show their creative side using a 1, 0, and 0.  Mrs. Kelly organized a painting activity where the result looked like a gumball machine.  When students came to our classroom they were able to work cooperatively to build with 100 objects.

100 Day Hershey Kiss Hunt

Watch the fun as students search the room after lunch for 100 Hershey Kisses. Everyone needed to find 5. All the kisses were numbered from 1-100 and needed to be placed on our class 100's grid before being eaten!

Homemade Salsa

As a bridge between our current social studies theme (Mexico) and our newest writing genre (procedural) we made fresh salsa in our classroom on Monday.  Unfortunately, due to lots of sickness I had to do most of the chopping and slicing, but students still enjoyed watching the process under the document camera.  They were even more excited when they got to sample our creation!  Later this week - homemade guacamole. Yum!!
