Observatory Trip Postponed!!!

Unfortunately, our trip (scheduled to be Wednesday, February 16th) to the the Saint Michael's College Observatory will need to be postponed.  There is currently too much snow surrounding the observatory and covering the dome itself.  We will let you know when a new date is set!

Happy 100th Day of School!

100 tallies for 100 days

Students found hidden pictures by coloring the correct numbers on a 100's grid

It was fun to work with friends from Mrs. Sorenson's class!

More tally marks!

Students enjoyed counting 100 objects and then building with them.

The boys and girls found a 100 scratch art card in their goody bags!

Showing off her 100 days of school badge

The boys and girls had a great 100th day of school!  We did many special projects and it seemed that everywhere we looked the number 100 kept popping up.  This is just a sampling of the photos I have from the fun day (unfortunately, my camera battery just died).  One of the biggest hits of the day was the search for 100 hidden hershey kisses throughout the room!  Keep checking for more fun photos.

SMC Observatory Trip

I hope that you all received a letter detailing our nighttime field trip to Saint Michael's College.  As a part of our science unit titled 'The Night Sky' we are going to be able to meet with a professor from Saint Michael's College who will not only share his expertise, but will also share his astronomy equipment with us.  The trip is scheduled for Wednesday, February 16th.  Due to the cold weather we have broken the one hour time slot (6:30-7:30 p.m.) down into quarters so that each first grade class will have 15 minutes inside the observatory.  Our classes time slot is from 7:15-7:30 p.m.  I hope to see many of you there!
